Ace breakers is a faculty-pitched project at Carnegie Mellon University, Entertainment Technology Center (ETC). By creating a multiplayer virtual reality pickleball game, the team aims to bring the excitement and competition of pickleball to life in an immersive and engaging way. The game will combine the realistic physics and motion with fantastical elements to provide players with a party-style experience. Ultimately, we want the game to teach people the basic rules of pickleball as well as to let players grasp the essence of this rising sport.

Through countless hours of designing, playtesting, and iteration, we successfully recreated the physics of pickleball in VR, delivering a competitive 2-player game. With your own customized virtual avatars, you can compete against opponents with various skills, such as spin, slice, dink, lob, and even a powerful kill shot!

Even if you’re new to pickleball, don’t worry. We’ve created a tutorial level with step-by-step visualized instructions for all the rules, as well as a training level to hone your hitting skills and explore advanced techniques.

It’s been an amazing journey for us, and we’re excited to share our project with you all! Please feel free to reach out if you’re interested in learning more about the game.
