Bon Appétit! This week the soup bowl was pretty empty — most of our team was at GDC, and Tassi was playing cleanup, binding our two demo videos into a single cohesive experience.

Tassi took the opportunity to dive into the main branch and take stock of all the work done so far. By taking the HalvesManager script and tying some of its functionality into the overall game manager, Tassi was able to get the game flowing the way it was intended. Taking good guidance from Jiwon’s UI template, he also started laying out the entire player space.

Adjusting the position of ingredients has helped with overlap interactions. Originally, colliders were overlapping due to auto-sizing being inaccurate in Lens Studio. Manually adjusting each collider also revealed that custom mesh colliders don’t seem to detect collisions correctly; this appears to be caused by the inability to check the “Dynamic” option in colliders when a custom mesh collider is selected.
Additionally, Tassi began the tedious task of reapplying all textures to the new models. Lens Studio does import models with textures, but reapplication is necessary across version control.
As for the rest of the team, they were diligently discussing Lens Studio at the Snap Games talk at the annual Games Developers Conference.
