In the regular meeting with Jessica, we discussed about the 3 ideas and she gave us some insights about the ideas.
Garden + Postal Service Idea
- Don’t be bound to a christmas tree because it’s time bound.
- Something clever about decorating that makes the process helpful and meaningful
- Does this need to be a standalone app? Or can it be a plug in for Canvas
- You want people to be emotional with their feedback as long as it is appropriate
- Think about it as ‘are you being of service?’
- Where do you see this living in the ETC?
Lovebird Idea
- The idea of putting a message in an egg and sending that around to peers/professors is fostering the wrong type of culture. (Throwing eggs at people)
- How do you help people give critical feedback on a good note. The lovebird can foster a positive attitude and mindset about exchanging feedback.
- Feels like your team pulled back a bit further than you need to. Try to focus on one or two key matters like giving critical feedback or receiving feedback.
- Give the lovebird independence. Not that everyone has a lovebird, but there’s only one lovebird that interacts with everyone.
Filer Tinder Idea
- Use this to train people on specific aspects of feedback (specific?/actionable?)
- Challenge: agree and disagree, insightful and confusing. Your goal for the user is to agree AND feel insightful
- There are other axes : helpful/unhelpful, high quality/low quality, etc.
- Exciting idea. It’s hitting the emotional piece and the teaching piece.
- Helps teams if they individually write the feedback, surface it and discuss it.
After having an team meeting after the instructor meeting, we voted for our desired idea and future plan. In this voting, most of team wanted to work on with 1 team in the future and work on Filer as our project deliverable.

Since next week is halves presentations week, we mainly focused on preparing for the halves presentation in the rest of the week.
Jessica also gave us some hints that’s very useful in the meeting:
What should we, should we not cover?
- Define the topic. We’re working on the topic of peer feedback = the act of exchanging feedback among non-experts.
- Lay out the problem statement of the topic. Hard giving feedback, receiving feedback.
- People struggle to be critical either because they don’t want to hurt feelings
- People don’t care and not give good feedback and can potentially harm the receivers
- Present our three (or choose one) “solutions”
- Talk about how the idea solves the problem
- Walk through a little bit about what it would look like when it’s in practice
- Give an example (Let’s say we’re in BVW…blah)
- Talk about the delivery plan (verify the hypothesis, simultaneously developing a mockup or set of prototypes)
- Talk about the ideation process, pivot with the client and now our client is the CTP.

We defined the outline of the halves presentation based on this, and divided all the works into individual. Then we finished all the works and polished it on the Friday.

Since the RPIS was closed on Sunday, our team finally rehearsed in our project room. We counted down the time for each person and made everyone be fluent in this presentation. We’re confident that the halves will go successfully since we’ve prepared so much!
