[Week 11] Softs Plan

According to the last blog, we went through the playtest day and got totally 25 pieces of test data from the event.

In this week, we mainly did these progress:

  1. Data Analysis of the Playtest Day
  2. Meet with our instructor – Jessica – for the future plan of playtest
  3. Arrange for playtesting trade event with other ETC project team.
  4. Meet with our project consultant Dave on Friday
  5. individual progress

Data Analysis: We spent a lot of time sorting through the survey results and categorizing the feedback we received from our playtest day. After analyzing the data, we found a lot of insights that will help us improve the game.

Basically we divided our data analysis into two parts. The first is survey analysis, which is based on the answers they fill in the after-testing survey. The second is match analysis, which is based on the difference between their categorization of the cards with how we define the cards.

Here are the insights we got from the analysis:

All analysis from this playtesting are positive validations of the flip function and learning cyle of Filer.

Meeting with Jessica: We had a regular productive meeting with Jessica to arrange our future playtests. We’re planning to conduct more playtests in the coming weeks to get more feedback from players. This will help us further refine the game and make it even better.

Jessica said she will be on vacation next week and off office until 4/17, so we should plan our next week and soft-opening concisely. She recommend us to get high quality feedback on our mid-fi prototype from our client – Dave. Also, we can schedule playtesting with Elaine. There’s also a plan for playtesting:

Ask other teams if they want feedback in soft-opening

  • It will be a kind of official test
  • We can see how Filer fits ETC atmosphere
  • Send Email this week to other groups

We’ll print out a high-fi demo after Jessica back 4/17 in the meeting to have a thorough discussion on it

Deliverable:

  • the high-fi figma prototype for user ability research
  • Technical prototype
  • Documentation including data

Client’s Goal:

We can use tech prototype to study the impact of Filer in larger scale.

Playtesting Trade: We also arranged to do some playtesting trades with other ETC project teams. This will allow us to get even more feedback from different perspectives, which will be invaluable as we continue to improve the game.

Meeting with Dave: Our project consultant, Dave, met with us on Friday and gave us some great insights about our project. His feedback was really helpful, and we’re excited to incorporate his suggestions into our work.

Other Progress: In addition to all of the above, we’ve also been making progress on other aspects of the game. We have a mid-fi prototype that we’re continuing to refine, and we’re working on setting up a cloud database to make it easier to manage our data. We’re also developing a design system to ensure consistency across all aspects of the game.
