Summary
This week was shortened by the Labor Day holiday. During this week, we dived deep into the resources provided by our clients, supplementing this with our own investigative efforts. We had some team brainstorming sessions, focusing on potential game narratives and identifying viable deliverables for the project. A highlight of the week was our attendance at the transformational game workshop, which offered valuable insights and direction for our ongoing work.
Research
During this week, our team carefully reviewed a collection of academic papers supplied by our client. These papers gave us a clear understanding of autism and the various supportive interventions. Alongside this, we looked into games related to autism to see how the topic has been tackled in interactive mediums. Our exploration of past ETC projects – “PRISM”, “Blindspot”, “Decision that Matters” – was also insightful. Their innovative approaches influenced our thinking about our game design direction.

Narratives
Following several brainstorming sessions, the importance of a compelling narrative became evident. We recognized the need to authentically portray the experiences of autistic individuals in the workplace. This focus ensures that our project goes beyond mere simulation and truly resonates with its intended audience. To achieve this, each team member took the initiative to craft narrative concepts, bringing a diverse range of perspectives and ideas to the table. These potential storylines will serve as the foundation for our game, ensuring depth and authenticity in our portrayal. Narrative Vault
Transformational Game Workshop
One of the standout moments this week was the transformational game workshop orchestrated by Elaine. This session was instructional and inspiring. It provided us with crucial insights into crafting a transformational experience. These learnings not only enriched our understanding but are now serving as foundational pillars in our narrative design process. The workshop emphasized the delicate balance between storytelling and impact, ensuring that our game doesn’t just entertain but also enlightens and resonates with its audience.
