Week 10

Summary

During this week, we remained dedicated to incorporating feedback and concurrently enhancing the overall experience. To validate our content and interactions from the perspective of individuals with autism, we planned a few client-side playtests. Simultaneously, we implemented substantive improvements, refining the detailed experience with innovative and creative solutions.

Art

In the realm of artistic enhancements, we focused on refining key moments in the Tony putting on headphones animation, intensifying the visual impact. Additionally, we invested efforts in creating a more natural and vivid environment through nuanced character movement. The office underwent a transformative renovation, involving a meticulous overhaul: 1) A strategic rearrangement of the office layout, and 2) The infusion of intricate details, such as an elevator, front desk, whiteboard, bookshelves, plants, windows, glass doors, and the introduction of a cozier lounge area.

UI

Our user interface improvements were designed with both innovation and user engagement in mind. We replaced the traditional loading bar with a dynamic elevator rising animation, adding an element of visual interest. The opening scene now features an elevator door and an office check-in screen, seamlessly introducing company information and the player’s role. To enhance clarity, we introduced self-thought bubbles, simplifying the differentiation between a player’s internal thoughts and actual conversations.

Programming

In the programming domain, significant refinements were made to elevate the overall gaming experience. We transitioned to full mouse control, eliminating redundant keyboard controls for smoother interaction. Episode 1 saw the introduction of projector interaction, injecting a new layer of interactivity into the gameplay. A robust sound manager was implemented for an immersive auditory experience. Data tracking capabilities were enhanced, providing insights into the time players spent on each conversation and interaction, aiding us in identifying potential challenges. Further, character positions on the dialogue box were differentiated, making it easier for players to discern between themselves and other characters.

Narrative

Our focus this week centered on crafting the interaction and refining the detailed script for Episode 2. Our goal is to present a comprehensive version of the narrative by the upcoming week.
