Week 12

Summary

Despite the brevity induced by the Thanksgiving holiday, our team made substantial progress and diligently addressed numerous bugs in preparation for the upcoming soft opening.

Narrative

In the realm of narrative development, we reached a significant milestone by crafting and implementing three distinct endings, each adding layers of depth to the player’s experience. Furthermore, we responded to valuable client feedback by condensing the narrative, ensuring a more streamlined and engaging storytelling experience.

Art

Characters’ colors for Tony and Ali was updated, avoiding stereotypes associated with the autism community. Our artist completed the intricate “rub eyes” animation, showcasing meticulous attention to detail. Additionally, a series of animations underwent refinement, with specific focus on addressing and resolving issues like the fidgeting finger glitch, ensuring a more polished and inclusive representation.

UI

We improved some UI details in this week, including the addition of a Team & ETC credit page, providing due recognition to contributors. The Settings UI now incorporates options for sound control and save/load functionalities. A dynamic learning panel was introduced, reflecting the player’s choices and fostering a more personalized narrative experience. We also revised some wording issues in response to client feedback, ensuring a meticulous user interface.

Programming

Programmers implemented the “work distribution” interaction, enriching the gameplay experience. The Dynamic Learning Panel, a notable addition, dynamically adapts to the player’s choices. Comprehensive sound controls were integrated, providing players with options to turn off ambient and effect sound. Random interactions with characters and objects within the scene add an element of unpredictability and immersion. Substantial efforts were directed towards bug fixing, ensuring a smoother and glitch-free experience.

Sound

We added some sound effects such as elevator sound and door closing sound, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the game.
