Week 8

Summary

This week we focused on integration. We developed and refined the narrative based on MSE’s feedback, advanced the character design and animation, introduced a “Takeaway” panel to enhance the transformational experience, and streamlined the code while rectifying errors, ensuring an improved prototype for our client.

Narrative

We’ve been working on refining the narrative for the coffee scene in episode 1. In tandem with this, we’ve also developed a draft for the narrative of episode 2 and established the structure for the game flow.

Art

Our artist has been busy creating a series of animations for the characters. This includes adding detailed facial expressions, character behaviors, and gestures to enhance the overall experience.

UI

To highlight the transformative aspect of the game, we’ve designed a new “Takeaway” panel. This panel effectively communicates the key moments and insights that players have encountered, setting the stage for meaningful discussions about fostering a more inclusive and empathetic workplace.

In terms of accessibility, we’ve added text labels to icon buttons and implemented notifications for new tasks, making the game more user-friendly.

Programming

Our programming team has been busy enhancing the user experience. We’ve introduced a mouse control system that allows for easy navigation and interaction with the game. Sound effects have been incorporated to add depth to the prototype, and we’ve implemented a blur effect during dialogues for added immersion. The integration of narrative and art assets is proceeding smoothly, and we’ve addressed various bug fixes to ensure a more polished experience.

Next Steps

We’ve already sent the playable prototype to our clients, eagerly awaiting their constructive feedback to further refine our work in subsequent iterations. Additionally, based on the observed playtime, we’re planning to streamline episode 3, allowing us more time for fine-tuning and improvement.
