Week 13: Soft opening

Good Morning, and welcome back to our weekly dev blog! We’re happy to share the progress we’ve made as we approach the soft opening. Here’s a breakdown of the feedback we’ve received, categorized into three main areas:

Implement Positive Feedback of interactions
  • Requests to hear from opponent dialogue instead of constant chanting
  • Suggestions for a charging interface to indicate when attacks are ready
  • Desire for more character animations to enhance immersion
Environment & Level Design
  • Exploration of how room size influences gameplay dynamics (both smaller and larger rooms)
  • Interest in a guide for furniture placement to enhance player experience
  • Consideration for dynamic level design elements, such as moving decorations that fade in and out of view
Future Plan
  • Thoughts on extending the project beyond the current semester, with a focus on expandability and generic animations/monsters
Future Plan

Moving forward, our team is prioritizing the completion and implementation of the game’s ending scene. We’ll then address the feedback received during the soft opening, including improvements to audio, the charging interface, room setup guidance, and exploration of room size impacts on gameplay. Additionally, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a tournament next week, open to everyone in ETC. This presents a valuable opportunity for us to gather further feedback and engage with the community.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to refine and enhance our project. Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback!
