Week 14: MonoMon Tournament

Good morning! Welcome back to our last development blog of the semester.

Tournament
Tournament: Final Round

This week our team hosts a MonoMon Tournament for ETC students, faculty, and staff which contains in total 7 sessions. The purpose of the tournament is to reflect on design and gameplay balance and observe methods to win that go beyond the original design. Overall, guests were immersed in PvP battles within the designed virtual and physical environment.

Throughout the tournament, our team learned that the mechanics of the tournament motivated players to immerse themselves in the PvP battles, the choice of monster makes a difference in order to win, and new players take time to practice before mastering the game.

Our instructor, Dave, won the last prizes and became the first Mono King because he practiced his skills in attack and defense for most of the semester.

Programming & Documentation

This week, our programmer is wrapping up the project while organizing documentation for future ETC students interested in creating a Mixed Reality experience for multiplayer in a shared space.

Future Plans Beyond the Semester

The rest of the team is focusing on creating the final presentation slides and capturing video for the trailer this week.

Additionally, our team is planning to participate in the Meta Quest Presence Platform Hackathon 2024 on Devpost. This event presents a challenge for all developers to practice their Mixed Reality development skills and innovate in new categories of Meta Quest applications. We aim to use this opportunity to showcase our work to a larger audience.
