Week 11 is shorter because of a CMU tradition, Spring Carnival. Hence, we did not have a client meeting this week.
Final Demo Video
This week, the team has started preparing for the final concept video. We want to demonstrate various future in-car experiences during a family road trip, including a gaming experience after the departure to warm up the in-car atmosphere and promote family interactions. In the middle of the journey, we want to show 2 different experiences for the parents and the kids, productivity for the parents and relaxation for the kids. Finally, before arriving at the destination, the family will have an edutainment experience together to learn more about their destination and be filled with curiosity and anticipation.
Here is the shot list and storyboard we created this week to capture what the demo video should look like. In addition, we also ordered sunglasses and green canvas as props for the filming.

Art
In addition to the final demo video preparation, our art team had a couple of breakthroughs this week! The first breakthrough was the bison animations. The bison animations were successfully imported into Reality Composer Pro and attached to the bison models.
The second breakthrough was the realization of the Morning Glory Pool shader. It was also successfully imported into Reality Composer Pro, and this is how it looks in the engine.
Programming
Based on our experience and observation from the playtest day, we have decided to switch from SharePlay to Firebase server as our multiplayer solution. We made this decision because the setup of SharePlay during our playtest day was troublesome, causing lots of confusion among our playtesters. To achieve a smooth and natural experience, a seamless integration of a multiplayer solution is desired, which we chose Firebase as the alternative.
Here is what SharePlay looks like in the headset. It has to be achieved via a FaceTime call, which was too difficult to let the playtesters make the call from Apple Vision Pro.

Plan for next week
We will have our ETC Soft Opening next week on Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Soft Opening is an ETC tradition that usually takes place in week 12. During the Soft Opening, ETC faculty will visit different project rooms to playtest student projects and give feedback about the experience in a 30-minute time slot. We plan to get the geyser setoff experience and the bison feeding experience ready by the Soft Opening and have ETC faculty playtest our experiences. Meanwhile, we will ask, invite, and schedule ETC faculty who have kids to be our family actors in the final demo video.
