Week 2 Blog

Week 2 1/22-1/26

This week, we presented our six ideas to Deeplocal, as well as participated in the Playtest to Explore workshop.

Advisor Meeting

During our weekly advisor meeting, we showed Mo our short pitch deck with the six ideas. He gave us good feedback on our directions and how we can adjust them to show Deeplocal, better, refined versions of them. He was particularly interested in the Mirror Scribe idea, where we fog up a mirror and write on the glass. He suggested we work on the engineering side and market it as a platform, where the content is still undecided. With this feedback, we went back to our pitches and worked on refining them for our meeting with Deeplocal on Friday.

Playtest to Explore

We created a composition box for the Playtest to Explore workshop. With this box, we have outlined some of our goals with the project, such as user goals and team goals. During the workshop, we wanted to collect some data from our peers, so we asked them why they listen to sad music. We got some good results that helped propel our pitch deck for Deeplocal!

Deeplocal Meeting

On Friday, we had our weekly client meeting with Deeplocal. We presented to them the six refined ideas we had, and they liked all of them! They were especially into the “Mirror Scribe” idea and the “Window Box” idea, for different reasons. They loved the idea of writing into a fogged mirror and thought it was a powerful platform, it just needed the content to push it along. For the window box, they liked the insight that we built it on, which is that people like to listen to sad music while staring out of the window.

They gave us some helpful information that will solidify our direction, such as the product needing to be used in the bedroom, transform the space, as well as the user journey must start with listening to music, the product cannot come first (example, the product can’t generate a playlist based on user input.) This information will help us refine our ideas moving forward. Mo, Jake, and Sean, will be discussing which ideas we should move forward with after the meeting, so we have the weekend free!

Conclusion

This week was very productive for the team, as we were able to iterate on multiple ideas and refine the ones we liked. As we move into next week and prepare for quarters, we will pick two of our ideas to refine and see where these paths lead us. We are also currently working on drafts for the logo and poster, which will be sent to Shirley Yee before Week 3 ends. Thank you for reading and we’ll see you next week!
