Hello!

This week is more about technical problems we met for the production pipeline.

The biggest problem to us was how to have animation stay in the way that it was created and cleaned in Maya to Unreal Engine. And we were using dual quaternion for character arms while Unreal Engine does not really support this function.

Arms were twisted like candy wrap

But during this week we found THE solution to it and we’re in the progress of documenting bug reports and pipeline guideline! Hopefully it will provide some big helps to future students!

Also like we planned in week10, we have more progress in cinematics and we really looking forward to showing them in next week

In total, we had 27 animation clips cleaned-up by Sheenu and we’re working on converting them to Unreal Engine.

So far in engine, animations are working well and we are fixing more lighting issue and putting more assets into the scene! Joints at the left side of Unreal outliner was generated partially by our Mocap system but Sheenu had added more to control facial expression and hands.

To do list:

  1. cinematic camera set-up ~ 90% to 100%
  2. level design finish up ~ 90%
  3. all animations need to be converted in the right format and import into Unreal to replace those for place holder
  4. 1st draft render of the whole music video
