Keying (Kimi) Du

Game/ Level Designer and Gameplay Programmer

Keying (Kimi) is a level designer and technical game designer with a focus on level layout and flow, interactive storytelling, and gameplay mechanics development. In this project, she will be responsible for level design and game systems design and implementation in Unreal Engine.

Ayaka Morito

Game Designer and

2D Artist

Ayaka is a multi-background concept artist born in China and raised in Japan. She graduated as an undergraduate illustration major at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NY and is studying in the master’s program at Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center. She is now participating in the level design production team. She is currently in the Game Design and 2D Artist role, trying to make great game mechanics and great art style with her teammates.

Ruzhang (Jim) Zhao

Programmer and Technical Artist

Jim Zhao is a Technical Artist who mainly focus on Rigging, VFX and Tool Development. He has always been passionate about creating astonishing and enjoyable game levels by combining his various skills. On this project, Jim as stepped up to the challenge of programming our enemy AI and main game mechanic. His contribution has greatly pushed the project forward.

Jiahao (Marsh) He

3D Artist

Marsh is a 3D Artist with interests in VFX. For this project, he will focus on the 3D environment art and the 3D character modeling in the group.

Dazhou (Howard) Hou

Technical Artist

Dazhou (Howard) is a technical artist and game programmer. His main interests lie in game development, computer graphics, shaders, Rendering pipelines, and Texture. He was an intern at Ubisoft and Electronic Arts. In this project, he will cover the tech art aspects, including procedural generation, shaders, texture and technical troubleshooting.

Samantha Trimboli

Producer and Designer

Samantha is Producer and Designer for the QuestLine team. She graduated from Yale University with a B.A in Computing and the Arts, focusing her studies on computer graphics and animation. Here at ETC, she has built her skills as producer on various BVW projects as well as on the semester long project Puppamatics. In the future, she hopes to continue her work as a producer in the gaming industry.

Xiaoxuan (Claire) Zhong

VFX Artist and UI/UX Designer

Xiaoxuan, also known as Claire, is a UI/UX designer with an interest in VFX. She has a background in Interaction Design as well as some game programming experience

Last summer, Xiaxuan and her teammates developed an AI Music Visualize plugin in UE and sold it to a company. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact her via LinkedIn.

Instructors

Ricardo Washington

Project Instructor

Ricardo is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon and uses his skills and knowledge to teach students outside of the traditional academic environment.

He has taught classes in 3D art, specializing in modeling and texture creation. He also taught game design, animation, and production classes.

Ricardo works to improve the academic culture with consistent and robust service on various committees and boards, organizing multiple events, updating classes and curricula, and connecting with the community in Pittsburgh. 

Ketul Majmudar

Subject Matter Expert

Ketul is a game designer currently working at Meta. He has shipped Asgard’s Wrath 2 and God of War Ragnarok. He is a graduate from Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center and has shipped three mobile titles as a VR game designer and programmer. He also likes to blog about game design and play action adventure games in his free time.

Ruth Comley

Project Instructor

Ruth Comley is an educator that has been teaching undergrad and graduate classes for 28 years in the areas of digital art, experience design, and project management. She has a Specialized Associates degree in Industrial Design, a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science and a Masters of Entertainment degree in Entertainment Technology. 

Currently Ruth is an Associate Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University where she teaches Masters classes in Project Production, Digital Art, and Experience Design in the Entertainment Technology Center. She is also the Art Director for Stage and Steel Productions, Khymira Entertainment, and an active Board member of StriplightCommunity Theater. There she designs and produces seasonal festivals and events while also writing, producing, and directing theatrical plays.
