Week 10 Blog: Assessment Document Outline

Updates Documentation

It is a regular development week, as we mentioned last week this week we were working on documents for Physics and History educational games & assessments in Roblox. Here are some screenshots of the document. After Thanksgiving, we will have the document posted for editing for soft opening.

Updates on Prototypes since last week

We had some updates on the demos, including a complete playable 5 history levels and some adjustments for physics. You can view our latest History Demo Video here:

Meeting with Dave

We talk to Dave on Wednesday about the deliverable and Dave gave us some very good suggestions that maybe we can build a tool to visualize the data using excel or python so we can make the project more useful for the Roblox team. He also advised that we should imagine the opposite of what people may need to know about our experience to make the document more accurate and supportive. For example, if we are suggesting something in our document that developers need to reduce the objects in the scene to have better performance on devices but the opposite (too many objects) is obviously not what developers will do so that shouldnโ€™t be included.

Dave also said we can intentionally change the game that experiments if the player’s behavior is different. Thatโ€™s something we also thinking about.

Next Week

We will continue playtesting with 8th-grade students from Mellon Middle School and Highlands Middle School. Keep polishing the documents and preparing for the soft opening. For the demo, there will be some minor updates but now we want to focus more on wrapping up and completing the documentation which is more important.
