It’s the time of the year! ETC Festival!
The ETC Festival is an annual, invitation-only event hosted at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC), where interactive experiences, games, student projects, and short films created by graduate student teams are showcased for guests in a carnivalesque atmosphere. The students are all excited to show what we’ve been working on!
Final Game Build Ready
After coming back from Ghana and after getting feedback from softs, the team had made some final touches to the game to make it ready for final deliverables.
We added more background environment in the Shoe Dash Challenge, to make the game more completed. We also adjusted the visual effects that indicates the character wearing shoes. The changes make the visuals more obvious and engaging.
The biggest change is in the outside stadium. During the testing, we found out that the navigation is still confusing for the students even though we have been making changes to the parameters. So, we decided to change the camera view. We let the players see the world from a higher point of view so that they can see the world stadium. This helps the player to better know where they should walk in the stadium. Also, the movement of the character will become less sensitive from a further view, helping the gameplay become smoother.
Festival Showcase
The team showed our final game build during the festival to the guests and introduce our game development process and ideas.
