“Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you are willing to create.”
So excited to start our first week! Unfortunately, the first two weeks are remote. But we were still very happy to see the old friends and new friends in our team. This week, we had our first team meeting on Tuesday to introduce ourselves. We did a lot of concept research related to our project. Finally, we had our first meeting with our instructor Ruth!
First Team Meeting:
In the first team meeting, we introduced ourselves. We talked about our background and what we want to learn from this project. The diagrams below show each team member’s background, skillset, and goals.
We also chose our producers, Bokang and Yigang. They divided their work.
Finally, we decided on our team name, which is Telepathway! Telepathy is literally the “reading of minds”, which is essentially what we’re doing. Mixed with a Pathway, leading us to a specific destination.
Concept Research
Understanding what we are doing is really important. Therefore, we started to research some concepts related to our project such as Machine Learning, Data Visualization, Interactive Environment, and Human-Centered Ways. We also found many examples of these concepts. Some of them are ML model visualization. Some of them are training AI to play games. And others are related to Data Visualization. Here are some screenshots of what we found.
First Meeting with Ruth
During the first meeting with our instructor, first she talked about the details of our project. This is a discovery project, which means we have a lot of freedom. We can choose any direction we want. Also, our client Google only provides suggestions. They will not determine anything for us. She suggested we build 4-5 prototypes and finally put all the discoveries into one paper. And then, we discussed the concepts and related work we found. Finally, we got our goal for week 2, which is to do more research related to real-life applications related to AI and data visualization. And we need to come up with some more clear ideas next week.
