This week is for half-presentation. We had our half-presentation on Wednesday. Therefore, we used last weekend also Monday and Tuesday to prepare for the presentation.
Half – Presentation
Last Friday, we started to prepare the slides for our presentation. First, we decided the outline together and we split the whole presentation into 5 parts, which are Project Overview, Feedback From ¼ Walkaround, Progress, Plan For Second Half, and Related Works / Resources. And then, we assigned each part to a different teammate. Each person in our team is in charge of part of the slides.
Last weekend, we filled in the slides’ content. Jack and Anlan helped us to visualize the content. On Sunday afternoon, we had a short meeting to go through the content of the slides. We checked the content of each slide together, discussed the problems, and came up with the best way to present our ideas together.
On Monday, we modified our slides based on the discussion we had on Sunday. And then, in order to simulate the real scenario of half-presentation, we rehearsed two times at the RPIS. We found a lot of problems through this rehearsal. The first one is time management. The second one is we are not familiar with the content. We also rehearsed with our instructor, Ruth. She really gave us a lot of useful suggestions. First, she suggested we delete some unnecessary slides such as the outline to save time. Also, she suggested we change the order of the slides to make it easier to understand. Finally, she also gave her opinions about how to present the slides more clearly. Many thanks to her. We modified the slides based on the feedback from the rehearsal. Finally, we got our final slides. Here is the link:
On Wednesday morning, we had our real half-presentation. Since we were all well-prepared, everything went well. We will make a summary of the half-presentation next week when we get the feedback. After the presentation, it’s team bonding time!
Team Bonding
After the half-presentation, we were all very satisfied with the presentation and also excited about the spring break! Therefore, we had our first team bonding! We had lunch together at a Korean restaurant. We had a really happy time together. After lunch, we also bought some snacks at the supermarket. Finally, happy spring break!
