This week, we shared our recent advancements with both faculty members and fellow classmates. Despite our project’s relatively straightforward pipeline compared to others, we discovered the importance of clarifying certain details that might seem obvious to us but could be unclear to our audience. For instance, we realized the necessity of addressing questions like who narrates the story – is it the monster or the doctor who brought it to life? We understand that our goal extends beyond simply creating animation; we’re crafting an immersive viewing experience. Thus, ensuring clarity on such aspects throughout our production journey remains a key priority for us.
In terms of production, we took strides forward this week. We began by crafting prototype gestures for the monster, serving as temporary placeholders in the environment. This allowed us to gauge how they fit into the overall look before delving into more intricate sculpting. Additionally, we wrapped up texturing work on Viktor, the doctor behind the monster’s creation, focusing on his face, body, and shoes. A decision was made to opt for mesh-based hair and eyebrows, taking into account the lighting of the environment and the design of the animatic.
