Week 13 – Documentation and Tool Kit

Documentation

This week the biggest priority of our team was to finish a draft version of our preproduction package. We originally separated everything into different folders and created a README file for each folder. But as advised by our instructor this week we combined our documentation into one single pdf file for easier searching & navigation.

Our Final Deliverable Folder

The document is currently 70 pages long and our hope is to provide every single detail of how & why we made every decision and how to expand based on them.

VR Development Tool Kit

Besides documentation, we have been also thinking about how we might better support the next team to continue developing this project. Over this semester onee biggest obstacles we faced was the effectiveness of our playtest. This was caused by both the robustness issue of our platform, and setup not simulating the scale of the experience as how it will be installed in the game portal. Therefore we decided to explore a new option that supports the next team to have more effective playtests without worrying about the robustness issue.

The solution we are proposing is a VR Development Tool Kit. It simulates the game in a virtual Game Portal environment and allows guests to interact with the experience with virtual modular controllers. Below is the Demo video of the tool.
