Week 1 – Overview

This week, our activities primarily revolved around meetings with faculty members and our team to maintain alignment on project objectives.

In addition, our producer, Sy, held a constructive discussion with Mary Frances Hurt, contributing significant insights to our ongoing work.

At last, we came up with some sketches for the logos, posters and websites.

1.Project Overview

This is an immersive project designed to capture the life, challenges, and enduring musical legacy of Mississippi John Hurt. This educational experience aims to shed light on the authentic narratives, the exploitation of his artistic contributions, and the enduring hardships faced by generations of African Americans in the Avalon, Mississippi region. Our project will be an on-site installation, complemented by portable and educational components, offering a comprehensive exploration of this remarkable history.

We have a team of 5 talented people from different backgrounds. There roles would be:

• Ezra Hill – Programmer
• Pulei (Play) Wang – Artist, Videographer
• Shuozhi (Sean) Shen – Designer
• Rei Yamada – Artist, Co-producer
• Yuan (Sy) Suo – Co-producer, Designer

Also, Yuan(Sy) would be responsible for the poster, while Pulei(Play) and Rei are responsible for the logo. Shuozhi(Sean) is responsible for the website.

Our client would be the Mississippi John Hurt Museum in Avalon, Mississippi.

Lastly, the instructor of this project would be Ralph Vituccio and Charles Johnson.

3.Plan For Next Week
