This week, our goal is to process the feedback from the playtest, work on the font and preparation for the laser cut, prepare for the final video edit, and create an audio mix demo.
1. Playtest Feedback
The result from our playtests is positive.
The interaction, after getting rid of the second knob, made a lot of sense.
The idea of the timeline is also very clear to the guests:
We also tested our media content. The guests echoed well with the emotions that we want to evoke, such as warm and calm. The guests also feel sad, as well. But we think this emotion is a crucial part of Chapter 3, where we talked about John Hurt’s death.
Therefore, based on the playtest result, we will continue down our current path.
2. Font Update
Below is the original font from the Radio. After investigation, this font turns out to be a customized font specifically for this radio. It is not a registered font at all.
Therefore, we decided to find a way to reproduce the font:
And we will be using this font for our timeline.
3. Laser Engrave/Cut Preparation
We started preparing for the laser cut by creating this illustrator file.
This is the materials we have purchased so we can start engraving and cutting next week.
4. Video Editing Final Prep
This week, we dive into our video chapters once again and made marks on what type of footage we can use for specific parts. And starting next week, we will finally put all the videos together.
5. Audio Mix
To create the radio-tuning feeling, we decided to mix the audio with static effects. Here is a chart explaining our design:
We will have two tracks: one audio track with the video audio. The volume of the audio will change based on the knob’s rotation. The other audio track contains a static sound, mix with historically important key moments/music, and the volume of this one also depends on the knob’s rotation.
6. Plan For Next Week
- Laser Engrave/Cut Test.
- Video Cut, at least finish two videos.
- Experiment with Audio Transition (build it).
