Week 7 : Hitting 2nd milestone + Halves

Presentation

Preparation for Half-Presentation:

This week, our focus shifted as we approached the half-presentation scheduled for Friday. We spend most of the core hours in the collaborative creation of presentation slides, accompanied by rehearsal sessions on Monday and Wednesday, to ensure a polished and impactful delivery.

Parallel Development in Game Development:

Along with the primary focus for the half-presentation, our team maintained a parallel commitment to polishing the development of the Dreamville Mart game. The week unfolded with several implementations:

1. Refined Game Environment:

The post-playtest analysis highlighted the need for refinement in the game environment. We realized the potential cognitive overload for new players, so we limited items to one per shelf. This adjustment reduces complexity and enhances the ability to identify the target item within the limited 500-second timeframe.

2. Artistic Overhaul:

In seeking a more immersive gaming atmosphere, the artist undertook a comprehensive overhaul of the dreamlike supermarket setting. Now strategically spread across six distinct sections, Shelves contributed to a high aesthetic appeal and increased players’ engagement.

3. Texture Diversity Enhancement:

We leveraged Mid Journey to generate additional assets in response to increased product diversity. This involved creating more product types, demonstrated by combinations such as “apple fish” and “bug milk.” Incorporating a crafted prompt ensured a stylistic coherence marked by a minimalist approach, Ghibli-style aesthetics, and a flat design against a black background. Additionally, the creation of alpha layers for all textures addressed concerns related to background color, creating a more visually cohesive game environment.、

This week’s efforts reflect a dual commitment to refining our game project and preparing for a presentation.
