Week 9 : Preparing the playtest day!

We mainly had 4 major updates.

1. New way of user prompting & Riddle generation:

This was to Improve the quality of riddles & encourage the users to make a creative attempt (a product combined with miss matched 3 words)

Before: 1 input box
After: 3 input boxes merged into create 1 item

2. Made Target item (generated item) condition same with premade items by

a) Training DallE to keep the style coherent with premade items by MidJourney

b) Making the Gen. asset to fill in the whole shelf just like premade items

This was to make the riddle solving and finding the item meaningful and challenging

3. Made the Category more noticeable by the environment and shelf design

4. Key control & Opening Cutscene implemented for better instruction

+ More Iterations implemented before Saturday playtest as follow:

  • Camera bug fix
  • Zoom in feature with right click & button UI
  • BGM & interaction SFX implemented
  • Cluttered shelves layout modification
  • Action to get the riddle : Changed from ‘slapping’ to ‘talking’
  • Ending scene now shows the answer (riddle and image)

+ More puzzles left for us:

  • Interrupted game play / power up feature for a better interest curve
  • Connecting “Solving the riddles” -> “Finding the item” more closely
