This week was all about momentum. Our team made meaningful progress on both the strategic and creative fronts, fueled by key client conversations and insights from a transformational game design workshop.
Workshops & Client Meetings
On Wednesday, we joined the Transformation Game Design workshop with Dave Culyba (covering the transformational framework created by Sabrina Culyba), where we received valuable feedback on connecting our transformational goals more closely with gameplay. The workshop pushed us to think critically about how every mechanic supports our mission.

By Friday, we met with our client to align expectations and refine our direction. This conversation gave us clarity on priorities and helped us ground our next steps in the client’s vision.

Game Design & Research
With fresh perspective from the workshop, we revisited our strategy to ensure that transformational outcomes are baked directly into gameplay. Key progress this week included:
- Starting a gameplay design document to establish the core rules and mechanics.
- Deepening research on the HCI and transformation aspects of play, making sure our design aligns with player learning and growth.
- Reaching out to STEM education outreach programs for informational interviews—an idea sparked by the workshop. Learning from others tackling similar challenges will help us avoid guesswork in understanding our audience and barriers.
Art & Design
On the creative side, we began sketching out the project’s visual identity. The team produced the first drafts of logos and initial design concepts for the training shoe, setting the stage for an evolving design language.
Production & Documentation
We also laid the foundation for capturing and sharing our process by:
- Starting work on the project website.
- Drafting documentation entries to track progress and decisions.
What’s Next
Looking ahead, our priorities are clear:
- Develop the first full draft of the gameplay design document.
- Continue outreach and schedule informational interviews.
- Refine our transformational research and integrate insights into design.
- Iterate on logo and training shoe concepts.
- Build out the website and documentation further.
