Week 13

As we head into Monday, our team is shifting into the final stretch of the project. This week’s meeting will Production Update: Preparing for the Final Push

As we move into the last phase of development, our team met this week to map out the road to our final deliverables. With Thanksgiving approaching, we set expectations early so everyone could plan their workload and return ready for a focused sprint.

Building the Final Tutorial Experience

One of our key deliverables is a polished 2-minute tutorial that blends images, voiceover, and a clear walk-through of the game’s core mechanics. Using our Prezi reference as a guide, we’re splitting the content into two formats:

  • Facilitator’s Handbook: half of the material written as a clear guide for educators.
  • In-Game Video Tutorial: the remaining half embedded directly in the game for players.

The workflow: export every Figma board → bring them into Premiere → overlay Dewey’s voiceover → incorporate the one-page manual as the framework.

Final Deliverables: What’s Making the Cut

We dedicated a significant portion of the meeting to locking in which features, fixes, and polish items will make it into the final build. The current list includes:

  • Full UI implementation using Jiwon’s scene
  • New animation videos for each shoe type
  • Adding price and weight as visible (but non-scored) stats
  • Improved estimation screen
  • Spinning 3D shoe with dynamic material labels
  • Greyed-out bars for inactive stats
  • Updated low-cut upper visuals
  • “NEXT” button replaced with TEST THIS SHOE

These decisions help ensure that our final experience feels cohesive, clear, and fully functional.

Art & Animation: Bringing Characters and Materials to Life

Art direction is tightening as we enter the polish stage:

Character Expressions

  • Every customer will have both smiling and frowning expressions for success/fail moments.

Materials & Shoes

  • Updated material colors
  • Two new visual variations from Dewey
  • Grip, Durability, and Breathability animations

Final Display & Expansion

  • New display scene with lighting
  • Display shelf for completed shoes
  • Additional character designs for future levels

Programming & Systems: The Final Layer of Functionality

Our engineers now have a detailed to-do list:

UI & Interaction

  • Port entire UI from Jiwon’s scene
  • Add new shoe animation videos
  • Highlight system for material selection (switch to toggles)
  • Gray out stat bars when inactive
  • Clean up component stat UI
  • Remove zoom in/out
  • Display price + weight cleanly

Gameplay Flow

  • After results, players move to a display scene before meeting the next client
  • Display case updates after each level
  • Add testing/loading screens
  • Connect level progression cleanly

In-Game Reference: Manual Integration

We’re considering adding our one-page manual as an in-game PDF so players can open it at any time. This could make complex concepts easier to reference during decision-making.

What’s Next

With expectations set ahead of Thanksgiving weekend, the team is aligned and ready for the final production sprint. As we close in on the finish line, we’re focused on clarity, polish, and delivering an experience that feels complete from tutorial to final display.

More updates soon as we push toward the final build!
