Week 13 – April 22, 2022

This week is the Soft Opening Week! We are making the final changes and had Mike, John and Jesse played our game! They all gave us very useful feedback. We also had a meeting with our client to talk about the final deliverables and the final playtest with AIPI students.

Soft Opening

  1. The biggest problem we found in the Soft Opening is the visual design of the valve.
  • First, almost all playtesters wanted to click the valves instead of dragging the valves, even though we explain the dragging mechanism in the tutorial.
  • Second, it’s hard for playtesters to find that the valves have more values in Level 1 than in Level 0. If the valves are changed to clickable, then this problem will be fixed. It will be better if we have a notice for the players.
Trying the new design

2. Another problem is the Run button. Faculties are confused about the word “Run” on the button and also about the position of the Run button.

  • Before we finialize the design, UIUX designers tried a lot different designs.
Trying the position of Run button

Finally, we decide to change the word “Run” to “Release”, and to express that the button is more about opening the valve and run the equation, we changed the position of the equation and the Release button.

Updated Level 1
Updated Level 2

After making those changes, we had the last round of Soft Opening with our instructor Mo. He liked the new design of the valves and gave us a very positive feedback.

Final Deliverables

We also had a meeting with our clients to talk about the Final Deliverables. We are going to hand off the project to our clients by giving them all the source codes and art assets with tech documentation and design documentation, through Github and Google Drive.

Then, the final tasks for us is preparing for the final playtest to gather more qualitative and quantitative data and the final presentation!
