Virtual Immersive Art Gallery

Week 12 – Final Refinements

This week, the team is mainly focusing on the refinements of the application. As we have designed both the artist end and the viewer end, we expect that the viewers’ experience would empower the artists, this week we are finally producing the viewer-end of our application.

To make things as simple as possible, we chose to embed the viewer’s experience in the original artist’s application instead of creating a separate application.

Here is how it works:

  • For artists, they could select login/register at the beginning page, and then visit their artist home page.
  • For viewers, they could directly visit the AR gallery by clicking on the “viewer” button, without any credentials.

We want to provide the viewers with better accessibility, therefore we deprecated the account verification step for the viewer end.

Viewer end

There are some basic functions provided for the viewer end:

  • Information – click on a specific artwork to see the title and description
  • Photo – have fun taking pictures with the artwork
  • Map – get navigated at the location

Summary

As Thursday and Friday this week are Carnival days, the team prepared for the soft opening from Monday to Wednesday.

The 3D models are introduced into the application, and this provides more possibilities to the artists.

In the soft opening next week, the team member will guide the faculties to experience both of the viewer end and the artist end, and collect the feedback for the final polishing.
