Week 5 – Art Direction

Time: 02/13-02/19

Production:

To prepare for the upcoming halves in 2 weeks, we decided to layout 3 rooms with films. To better understand what each room looks like, we had an art direction meeting. For the overall atmosphere, we are going after the cyberpunk vibe. Building and room inspiration can be found below.

Considering the details in the reference images, the scope is further cut down to save time for fewer and better rooms. Currently, we only have 4 rooms (players can enter 2 of them) and the central yard/playground.

Design:

Our poster and half sheet have been completed.

Art/UI:

Some graybox room has been replaced with more refined assets.

Programming:

Profiling has been brought to the table and proves itself essential to the success of an Unreal and VR project. I’m working with artists to keep the assets’ polygons and shader complexity under a reasonable standard. We don’t want the VR to be crushing…

Future Plans:
