Week 2 Brainstorming and make decisions

Continue from last week, team has made a lot of effort in filling details to the 4 ideas we picked. We also had heated discussions about target audiences, mediums, interactions, etc.

We created a composition box with “inspiration, needs and experiences” to help guide our brainstorming directions. With the help of other teams from Michael Christel’s workshop, we discovered many areas we missed or not clear about.

We also presented to our faculty Tom and Shirley and our client Stephan. They have given us many meaningful feedbacks and really help us to narrow down the options. We also decided to introduce real-world documentary and footages to better raise people’s awareness to cultures and languages.

Finally, we nailed the options down to “river”. We want to focus on rivers and the communities around rivers and talk about the opportunities and challenges in these cultures. We are planning to create a multi-player co op transmedia experience where players experience different river cultures through gameplay elements (e.g puzzle solving) to unlock documentary/ footages about these river cultures.

For next week:

  • Figure out more details on game mechanisms, interactions, etc
  • Start working on concept art/ programming demos
  • Preparing for quaters
