Week 10: April 1, 2022 – Playtest Day

April Playtest And CMU Playtest Day

Hello!

This week was focused on completing our build for the ETC’s Playtesting Day on April 2nd.

Below are some of the photos taken during the event of the groups that came through for playtesting. We want to thank everyone from inside the ETC and guests to the ETC for coming and playtesting with our team

The gallery below here consists of photos taken from a playtest with visitors from a local game company, Simcoach Games. We want to thank Brandon Badger, Lawrence Plofker, and Matt Denton from Simcoach for taking the time to playtest with us and for all the feedback they provided.

This next gallery contains some screenshots from the game as of Playtest Day.

We found Playtest Day (and other playtests we were able to hold) to be very beneficial for the development of our project. Having additional sets of eyes to look over our work meant we were more aware of features we can clean up and polish to make more satisfying. In the current state of our project, the most common issue players were having was a lack of feedback/difficulty understanding the communication between phone and screen. Players expressed that they were not sure where to look at times, having to look back and forth between phone and the shared screen. Some actions on the phone would not show any change on the phone and we hope to update in the future so players are more able to pair their actions with the results of their actions.

The next blog post will likely go more in depth into the individual feedback and direction we received from Playtest Day. The next blog post will be giving an update for a shortened week because Thursday/Friday CMU will have no classes due to Spring Carnival.
