Week 6: February 25, 2022 – Prototype Reflection and 1/2s Preparation

Hello!
Our main goals this week were to analyze our prototypes to see what we wanted to iterate on and to prepare for our 1/2s presentation. We felt that the prototypes we had created were great starts for simplistic transformations/teaching playtesters but would certainly need further development and direction before they felt like an approximation of the direction of the final deliverable.
This week also was the last full work week before our 1/2s presentation, which is scheduled for Monday, February 28th. We started to establish a more concrete concept for what our digital prototype should be.

Individual contributions listed below:

Danny

Assisted in gathering playtesters for both prototype groups. Worked along with Em and James on the garment/material prototype, individually led material/subject research and selected garments to be featured in the prototype. Compiled the brands and examples used in the prototype.

Em

Worked on the garment/material prototype. Individually: ranked items featured in the prototype to give participants a scale to help understand how materials contribute to sustainability. Tested prototypes with participants. Attended the faculty meeting earlier in the week where the focus was discussing next steps for the project such as slides/presentation for halves.

James

I spent this week focusing on analyzing our garment prototype and how best it could influence our approach to our perceived barriers in transforming our audience.

Jingyuan

Worked with Danny on elaborating our game concept, outlining details based on our current knowledge and client expectations. Took a lot of our concepts that were partially formed and started really honing in on what details from our playtests and research we will attempt to replicate moving forward.

Sarah

This week, after discussing with our team about the two game ideas that we proposed last week, I took part in playtesting the procedure of shopping by brands and created paper prototypes for it. I talked with Jingyuan and Xiunan about the approach and did research on the different types of fabric as well as existing clothing brands with different production methods. I enhanced the prototype using a digital tool to help with visualization for the participants and performed a playtest afterwards.

Xiunan

This week, after discussing with our team about the two game ideas that we proposed last week, I took part in playtesting the procedure of shopping by brands and created paper prototypes for it with Sarah and Jingyuan. I did research on manufacturing policies of different brands. I also ran several playtest sections.

Thank you!
