September 28 – October 2, 2026
We have now mapped out a schedule to deliver the experience by the end of the semester. We’ve settled on a scope that includes a tutorial stage followed by three content stages, which feels ambitious enough to be meaningful while still realistic within our timeline.
Week 6 (current) and Week 7: Work on Halves presentation slides. Set up the Cavern experience with as much art and sound assets as possible, and be ready to showcase a fully playable version during the Halves walkthrough next Friday.
Week 8 (after fall break): Refine stage 0
Week 9: Refine stage 1
Week 10: Refine stage 2
Week 11: Refine stage 3
Week 12: Final refinement
Week 13: Soft Opening, Thanksgiving break
Week 14: Work on Final Presentation slides, prepare for Festival and Final Playthroughs
Week 15: Final presentation, Final Playthroughs, Final team meeting
Anthony Palyszeski at the ETC organizes several playtest nights throughout the semester, giving students an opportunity to share their work and gather feedback from the larger CMU community. The first playtest night of the semester was held on September 29, 2026, from 5–7 PM on Main Campus.
For our playtest, we printed out several art assets and asked participants to vote on their preferred visual style. We presented three options: the original 3D style, a 3D-to-2D style, and a hand-drawn doodle style. Spoiler alert: the doodle version won!
