This Week’s Goals
In Week 7, we focused on:
- Presenting our progress at the Halves milestone
- Showcasing our current prototype and design direction
- Gathering feedback from faculty and our client
- Identifying key areas for iteration moving forward
Halves Presentation
At Halves, we presented our current progress, including our core mechanics, narrative direction, and early implementation of the welding experience.
This milestone marked our first opportunity to demonstrate how our ideas translate into a playable experience.

Client Visit — Dina (Feb 25)
We had the opportunity to review our progress with Professor Dina El-Zanfaly, whose feedback helped us better align our experience with both usability and learning goals.
I. Interaction & Controls
- Current calibration limits flexible use of Quest 3 controllers
- Grabbing and handling the torch in VR is not yet intuitive
- Consider ways to better simulate or suggest the weight and presence of the torch
II. Guidance & Player Clarity
- Introduce dotted lines or visual guides to support welding actions
- Add subtle hints for next steps (e.g., glowing handles or interactable objects)
III. Visual & Environmental Design
- Floating and slow-moving materials can better support the space setting and pacing
- Refine the auto-darkening helmet effect to feel more natural and less disruptive
- Adjust the helmet design to preserve more of the player’s field of view
IV. Future Exploration
- Potential integration of AI-assisted systems (ongoing exploration)
