9/13-9/19
Week 4 was absolutely a week defined by the progress on mechanical design. While the other teammates worked on improving the quarters build, as well as some administrative requirements such as our teams’ poster, Oscar and Austin worked on several new mechanics and dozens of new cards to take advantage of these mechanics. The goal was for each of them to design a new deck each day, and then playtest and discuss the advantages of each. On Friday, they committed to deciding on 2 decks that would be implemented for playtesting.
Some highlights included:
Defender: Must be defeated before attacking other allied Units
Glass: Can attack immediately and die at the end of the turn
Lock-On: Can destroy enemy cards in a randomly assigned number of turns
Flooding: Lanes can be flooded to affect the cards in the lane
Scorching: Lanes can be burned to damage enemies in the lane
Evolution: Units get stronger over time
The two mechanics that were picked to move forward first were Glass and Defender, but we plan on returning to some of the other options in the future.
