Last week, we presented our quarter review with ETC faculty. They expressed strong appreciation for our vision and also provided valuable feedback that will help guide our next steps. Beyond preparing for the quarter review, our team continued aligning on a shared understanding of the project direction and goals.
Progress Overview
- Core character design and modeling completed Logo and team photo finalized
- Poster draft completed
- Object recognition optimized to under 1 second
- Improved VR headset visual performance and stability
- Organized and defined core physical interaction objects
- Completed a prototype demo of the magic circle interaction
I. Art Progress
On the art side, the team explored multiple narrative directions and visual styles, expanding on the concept of the “trash spirits.” Several core characters have been modeled, and rigging tests will begin in the next phase. For design production, we completed our group photo shoot and continued refining the project logo and poster designs. Our core design vision remains centered on embodied interaction — encouraging users to touch, explore, and physically engage with the world. We aim to create an experience where virtual and physical realities are deeply intertwined, allowing users to feel fully immersed through hands-on interaction.

II. Tech Progress
From a technical perspective, we connected with other MR research teams to exchange insights on improving object recognition speed. In development, we have been stabilizing the shared two-player environment to ensure accurate spatial alignment of virtual objects. We also further optimized the VR headset’s visual performance to maintain a stable frame rate. Currently, object recognition and display response can be completed within one second, and we have established a stable framework that supports synchronous two-player experiences.
What’s Next
- Develop a more complex interaction demo(e.g., physical drawer interaction triggering fire, with users finding ways to extinguish it)
- Further refine the overall experience flow and journey map
- Continue detailed character design and iteration
- Complete website design and all remaining design production assets
