Interview with ETC faculties

To better understand the needs and expectations of guests visiting ETC, we conducted interviews with ETC faculties. Our goal was to gather insights into what guests were looking for during their tours and identify the challenges that the guidance team faced when conducting tours. Through this process, we were able to define different user groups based on their interests and needs.

Get familiar with ETC Tour and Facilities

Mike led our team on a visit to the devices and stops that are displayed and explained to guests during the tour. This allowed us to gain a better understanding of the hardware and devices used in ETC, and to get familiar with the stops that guests typically visit during the tour. By doing so, we were able to design the portal more effectively and create content that accurately reflects the ETC experience.

User Research

Target user groups

After the interview, we identified our target user groups as four groups: prospective students, current students, potential clients, and alumni. As different faculties deal with different user groups during the visit, we decided to extract pain points from previous interviews and conduct more interviews with people from these user groups. Our goal is to gain a deeper understanding of their reactions to projects, what surprised them during the visit, what made them frustrated, and what they are looking for when visiting ETC. This information will help us tailor the design of our interactive and informative portal to better cater to the needs and interests of our target user groups, creating a more engaging and memorable experience.

Information Architecture

After analyzing the user needs identified in previous steps, we have initiated the development of an information architecture for the portal. This architecture includes an overview of ETC, hardware, projects, 3D building models, and top/bottom bar information.

The goal of creating this is to organize the content on a website and portal in a clear and structured way that helps both users and team members easily find the information they need, leading to a better user experience and increased engagement.
