Week 9 – GDC and design update

GDC – Gathering Stories from ETC Alumni

Most of our team members went to GDC to talk to ETC alumni and gather stories from their experiences. It was a great opportunity for us to gain insights and inspiration from those who have been through the ETC program and are now successful in their respective fields.

Iterating the Interface Design

Sharon, one of our team members, stayed back and worked on iterating the interface design. She adjusted the size of the title and the position of the buttons, and added a new navigation title “Portal Design” to the website page. Based on feedback, she also made changes to make the interface less confusing for users. Tabs/buttons were added to the top of the page, and a big title “current projects” was added by the side of the 3D model with the consistent color of the project room’s color on the map.

Editing the Research Section

The research part was edited to ensure it was comprehensive and well-organized. We also continued working on the user testing section, which will showcase the entire design process and how decisions were made.

Designing a Mobile Version of the ETC Tour Guide

Sharon also started designing a mobile version of the ETC tour guide, which will provide a quick overview of project rooms and stops on each floor. It can be accessed by scanning the barcode on the bottom right of the portal. In the future, we plan to print out the guide and place it in the demo room so that guests can plan their next stop during their visit.

Overall, Week 10 was a productive week for our team. We gathered valuable insights from ETC alumni, made significant improvements to the interface design, and continued to work on showcasing our design process through the research and user testing sections
