Week 3 1/4 Walkthrough

In week 3, we had our first 1/4 walkthrough of the ETC Tour Experience. During the walkthrough, we introduced our design statement, deliverables, directions, and the hardware we will be exploring and building experiences on. However, we encountered some challenges and feedback from the faculty members who felt confused about our goals.

  1. One of the challenges we faced was that the faculty members thought that the four deliverables in one semester were too much, especially since we didn’t have any programmers on our team.
  2. Another concern was that there was no reason for us to build new experiences on some of the hardware, as there were already some polished previous student works.
  3. We need to focus more on the history of the hardware and its relationship with current students. For example, we could explore what we learned from previous gaming experiences related to specific hardware.
  4. Additionally, we need to communicate why our documentation is unique and how it differs from previous student works.
  5. Another important factor is the location, duration, participants, and information structure when building the experience.
  6. We also need to consider the limited budget and time we have and develop experiences that surprise visitors.

After the 1/4 walkthrough, we met with our instructors to discuss the feedback and the changes we needed to make.
