Week 13 – Soft-opening

Chris, Branda and Heather visited our project room and tested our kiosk as well as demo experience. We got lots of positive feedbacks regarding the visual design and technical development of the kiosk. However, there are some minor issues that they mentioned:

  • We need to pay attention about the height of guests and height of different buttons
  • Careful with unnecessary operations with clicking around in the 3d building
  • We need to simplify the technical instructions because it should be easy to understand for future maintenance.

Jingyuan, a dedicated individual with a passion for virtual reality, has been diligently working on refining their VR experience. This has involved not only making modifications to the environment but also fine-tuning the physical parameters to create a more immersive and realistic experience. In addition, Jingyuan has collaborated with Ruizi to include over 100 past projects into their portfolio, a feat that required a great deal of dedication and hard work. Through their tireless efforts, Jingyuan has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to achieving excellence in their work and to constantly improving their skills as a VR developer.

Adding New Features Based on Designer Feedback

Weilin has been actively collaborating with the desigs to add new features to our platform based on their feedback. These visual spectacles not only enhance the overall look and feel of the product but also improve its usability. Users can now expect a more engaging and visually appealing experience when interacting with our platform.

Bug Fixes for a Smoother User Experience

In addition to adding new features, Weilin has been fixing bugs to ensure a seamless user experience. Some of the resolved issues include:

  • Correcting matching project images in the database.
  • Fixing the problem of floor numbers displaying incorrectly.
  • Ensuring video sound stops playing after clicking on another page.
  • Fine-tuning UI elements, such as scroll bar thickness and card transparency.
  • Preparing and Conducting Technical Document Tests

Weilin has also been responsible for preparing and conducting technical document tests, which are crucial in ensuring that our documentation is accurate and user-friendly. These tests allow us to identify any potential areas of improvement and make necessary adjustments to guarantee the quality of our technical resources.

Writing a Comprehensive Technical Instruction

To further support our users, Weilin has written a detailed technical instruction on how to update the portal. This guide covers essential topics such as:

  • Opening the project in UE5.1.
  • Updating project information.
  • Updating 3D building information.
  • Updating hardware information.
  • Building the executable.
