feature photo for 2nd week

Summary (9/5 – 9/11)

  • Set up production tools and made sure that every team member knew how to use the production tools they needed;
  • Clarified the timeline of the semester by creating a Gantt chart;
  • Confirmed team core hour and schedule since everyone has settled down with their course schedule;
  • Researched related ETC past projects;
  • Started working on the logo, half-sheet and poster;
  • Created a composition box to help us figure out what are we going to make for the project.

Production

We set up the preferred production tools since we have decided who the producers are. The production tools we implemented are

  1. Google Drive – for pipeline (because we only have one main programmer)
  2. Google calendar – for schedule and meeting
  3. Wrike – for project management
  4. Team document – for all the related links and resources
  5. Email and discord – for communication

Design

This week, we are still at the exploring stage, doing background research. We researched an ETC past project “Joyride” in particular to see how they designed and developed their game jam for wheelchair users.

The team attended a Playtest to Explore Workshop on Wednesday with ETC faculty Mike Christel and John Dessler where we organized the Inspiration, Experiences and Needs for our project. Before the workshop, we brainstormed ideas for our project and then used the Composition Box method as our recon activity. During the 1.5-hour workshop, we gave suggestions and kudos to other projects and received feedback from faculties and fellow students.

Using the Composition Box, we were able to find what we want for our project, strong Player Experience Goals: to give our players a sense of empowerment and offer smooth control experience.

Branding

We also started working on the branding of the project this week. Glendon designed the first iteration of the logo, poster and half sheet for the project.
