This week we focused on brainstorming ideas and making simple tech demos. We also reached out to some faculty members that can help us do more research and develop the project more smoothly.

Brainstorming and Debriefing

The team sat down together and came up with almost 50 ideas (good ones and bad ones).

After that, we debriefed and found things that are common among the 50 ideas. The ideas fell in 4 big categories as picture below.

After our discussion, we decided to focus on a Simple Co-op Game, as the introduction to our experience, and a Co-op Conversation Trainer, simulating exposure therapy. We decided to not move forward with Solo Conversation Trainer with AI, because we don’t think we have the capacity to build an AI that can perform as a real human being within scope. We rejected the Asymmetrical Co-op Game, because we want this to be a tool for therapy and don’t want to gamify the experience too much.

Meeting with Faculty

This week we also met with faculty member Dave Culyba who kindly went through the transformational framework with us. We want to help the participants and transformation from having fear that stops them connecting with other people to being more courageous to talk to other people knowing there is risk.

We also met with faculty member Marie Flanagan who shared her own experience with us.
