Week 8 – March 17th

Coming back from spring break, we have been working on our MVP. We focus on player interaction and setting up the experience so that it would work for any room. Although several people are feeling under the weather, we are making steady progress towards our goal.

Feature Update

Nolan has made the first draft of our story in Twine. We plan on sending it to our subject matter expert to review it.

Xiao has made a wallet model and a phone model for our experience.

Varun is completing the dialogue systems, and Ezra has built the structure for the room set-up so that the NPCs ghost will spawn dynamically based on the distance between the walls in a room using navmesh.

½ Feedback

We have received positive feedback on our presentation. Many faculty members believe that our presentation is good and clear. There are some points we could improve:

  • What does success look like
  • Does the AR still help players to feel comfortable “in space” with that space densely populated

We have also received some feedback on the design. We found these to be valuable although we don’t think we have the time to make the changes.

  • Design questions
    • Will the “find your wallet” quest trigger much change in heart rate
    • What are the requirements for the real world space so that your MR world can support a “densely populated space”  and lead to a player feeling comfortable in such a space?
    • Do you want to keep them in a high stress level at all times?  Would a safe zone be helpful to give them a place to escape to and regroup?  Like a snack table in the corner of the room where their back is to everyone.  Could be a place where they could self report their feelings too

Agenda for next week

  • Integrate features
  • Character design
